Meet the Winemaker

Meet Ross Reedy,
Director of Winemaking

Ross Reedy makes the wine at Ferrari Ranch. He has been making wine since 2007 and is currently Director of Winemaking for Truett-Hurst Winery and VML Winery, alongside consulting for a range of other labels across California.

Ross started making wine for Dave and Liz in 2018, over a shared passion for the Santa Cruz Mountains terroir. “This is a really special place for growing grapes,” Reedy says. “Farming this land is not for the faint of heart. It’s constantly wet and cool, which, if not properly managed, can be disastrous. But farmed properly, the result is incredibly special wines with beautiful tension and intensity. The Ferraris are great partners because they understand this, and they keep the highest farming standards in their vineyard.”

Accolades

Ross has earned dozens of 90+ scores from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate, Wine Spectator, Jeb Dunnuck, and Wine Enthusiast. Most recently, he won Best of Class Pinot Noir in the ultra-premium category at the 2025 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.

Winemaking Philosophy

“My goal is to tease out every last bit of flavor I can get from the grape in the least intrusive way possible. Often, winemakers overestimate their role in crafting a good wine. I actually think being a good winemaker is more about restraint. Get out of the way, and let the fruit speak for itself.”
